The event that I chose for my poem is the war that happened between the Liberal and 

Conservative political parties, I wanted to write from the perspective of the family of an innocent victim 

that was killed in between the war. This event consisted of a fight for power. This event is the reason why 

we have departments in Colombia which is very important because that provides a better individual 

economy but the bad side is that about 6,000 people were killed with no reason. I used the Shakespearean 

sonnet for my poem.

6,000 innocent people that no longer get to see the seasons,

Fall with no light in their eyes in the concrete street, 

Caught in the middle of the fire with no reason, 

Now they no longer get to live.

Shaken by the politics and injustices,

Digging to find the power they don't need.

They pretend Colombia is like the Middle East,

But there is no money for us to stand up and fight in the ring.

It's not fair that our boy was taken away,

When the red and the blue fight against,

The pain we felt is bigger than the Milky Way,

Because when sadness takes over your body there's no way out of the pain.

Our boy has fallen,

His life has been stolen.
