The event I chose for my poem is the Armero Tragedy. The perspective I tell it from is from a 

journalist that talks about all the things that happened during the avalanche. This event is important 

because it affected a lot of families and also Colombian economy. This poem is written in terza rima 

with a rhyming couplet at the end. 

"The tragedy of the city of Armero"

Once a big, beautiful town

Lava flowed through the ceilings 

The mudslide flushed down

People died under the mud

A lot of broken feelings

Then the only thing left was blood

Forever may rest the people that died,

But we know at least we tried.
