My poem is about NASA finding liquid water on Mars, it is written from the perspective of an astronaut and in the poetic form of rhyming poem. This event is important to the world because there is a chance that there is or was life on a planet other than Earth and because in case that water runs out here, there is another place where we can drink water from.
"Second Chance"
Today I'm just a happy face
After we found out what's going on in space
Nothing else seems to matter
Because we found water.
I remember that the time was in slow motion like the kind that happens when you meet your soulmate
The smell of the science room was as intense as the hospital’s waiting room.
The robot saw a long, dark stain
On a small area on the surface of Mars
The water that runs down the drain
Is now somewhere near the stars.
The long, dark stain looked like the path that a river leaves when it dries up.
I'm as happy as a child who just got a puppy for Christmas
After all, This is a big deal for an astronaut like me
Part of it, because I may now work on something more advance
To find if out in space, there are other lives
The other part of it, is because we now may have a chance
Of living on top of Earth’s new wife.
What am I worried about?
Is that we, humans, might bomb it out
What we did to Earth
We might do it to Mars.
