Poem

Iabella Zuluaga

This poem is based on La Balsa Muisca. This poem is told by the perspective of an upcoming

leader, I chose it to be this way because when the Muiscas would do this tradition and celebration it

was how the ritual went so the upcoming leader became the leader, in the poem you can see how he

feels or imagine how he feels. This event is important in Colombian history because it was something

that shows us a way of how we lived and what we were like before the Spanish came, also because

they were an important tribe in Colombia. I chose to write my poem in quatrain and ABAB.

"Becoming someone else (Balsa Muisca)"

They cover me in gold, a decoration.

We have a tradition.

A way of how we live.

A form of exposition.

It is positive.

Something special.

A feeling that is real.

Something successful.

A great way to feel.

It is time.

I hear a chime.

It is like a coronation.

I am ready.

We throw gold, jewelry, emeralds in the river.

I am the foundation, I feel steady.

I am finally their leader.

This makes me a giver.

It is finished.
