Poem

Juan Martin Chaves

The event that I chose for my poem is the war between two really powerful drug cartels in

Colombia, the war between the Medellin cartel and the Cali cartel. This poem is told from the perspective

of a Colombian citizen that was a victim of this war. This event is important for the Colombian history

because all of the events and catastrophes that this event caused, the war between this cartels created a

country that was full of building bombing, plane hijacking, and other terrorist attacks just for the control

over the American drug market. This poem was written in a quatrain poetic form.

ā€œThe Never Ending Warā€

The pride and ambition of two cartels,

That harmed many innocent lives,

Started a war without an end,

And some barely survived.

The control over the American market,

The streets full of death so insecure,

The possibilities of living were unsure.

The benefits were smaller than a pin

The war that Colombians remember as the war of sin,

That started violence and corruption.

Turned many into targets,

And no cartel could win,
