Poem

Jean Paul Cardona

This poem is about the Thousand Days' War. It is told from the perspective of a kid that heard a story that his grandfather told him about this war. The Thousand Days' War was important because it stabilized the politics in the country. The poem is written in rhyming couplets.

''War, Forever War"

Liberals and Conservatives are an eternal war.

It all started when there were no cars.

When the president was ill,

Liberals went to his house only to kill.

Then they took all the country's power,

And fought in the land of the farmer.

A thousand days they fought,

and from both sides they shot.

The field was full of blood,

And sadness grew like a flood.

Violence entered every house,

And was seen by every mouse.

With treaties they tried,

And war stopped for a time.

But in the present they both hate,

So the country will need to wait.
